Rustom is a 2016 Indian Hindi crime thriller film directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Vipul K. Written by Raval. It was produced by Cape of Good Films, Zee Studios, KriArj Entertainment, and Plan C Studios. The film stars Akshay Kumar in the role of naval officer Rustom Pavri, alongside Ileana D’Cruz, Arjan Bajwa, and Esha Gupta in lead roles. This story is written by K.M. Written by. Based on real life. Based on the case Nanavati vs State of Maharashtra. It tells the story of Rustom, who has a happy marriage with his wife Cynthia until he discovers that she is having an affair with his friend Vikram. After this, Rustam was accused of murdering Vikram.
The budget of the Rustom film was ₹50 crore (approximately US$6.3 million) and the shooting of the film began in February 2016. It was released theatrically in India on 12 August 2016. “Rustom” received mostly positive reviews from critics who praised the acting and writing. The film was a major hit and grossed over ₹210 crore (approximately US$26 million) worldwide. It was the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film and fifth-highest-grossing Indian film of 2016.
Akshay Kumar won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role as Rustom Pavri at the 64th National Film Awards.
