“Celebrating India’s historic victory, ‘Gold: The Dream That United Our Nation’, directed by Reema Kagati and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, tells the inspiring story of India’s national hockey team at the 1948 Summer Olympics. The film features a talented cast. Kumar, Akshay stars including Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Nikita Dutta.
Set against the backdrop of India’s struggle for independence, “Gold” follows Tapan Das, who led India to its first Olympic gold in hockey. Released on India’s Independence Day in 2018, the film captivated audiences and raised the nation’s pride.
Gold was a huge success, grossing ₹158 crore (US$20 million) worldwide, surpassing its ₹61 crore (US$7.6 million) budget. It was also the first Bollywood film to be screened in Saudi Arabia. Later, she won hearts in China when she hit the screens there in December 2019.
