Ooru Peru Bhairavakona Review
Watching a movie can sometimes leave you with mixed feelings – engaged yet somehow unsatisfied, feeling like it could have achieved more. This was my experience of Ooru Peru Bhairavakona. The movie has interesting elements – a captivating concept, an emotional backstory, witty ideas and a well-crafted screenplay that weaves these elements together well. However, it seems like a shortened version of what could have been a grand adventure. The world and its mythology deserve deeper exploration rather than being reduced to brief scenes or heavy explanations.
Although it lasts around 130 minutes, the movie moves quickly. He introduces Basava (played by Sandeep Kishan) as a jewel thief at the wedding – a crucial event for the story. The story cleverly weaves characters, their pasts, conflicts and resolutions around this central theme. However, at times, it seems predictable. For example, the final battle against the ghost using a magic wand unfolds in a way that lacks excitement and creativity.
Basava, along with his friend Johnny (Harsha Chemudu) and thief Geeta (Kavya Thapar), stumbles upon the mysterious village of Bhairavakona while on the run from the police. They find a place where strange things happen. From the embarrassing opening scene where a man’s escape attempt meets a strange, frog-inspired punishment, the movie hints at a mysterious and creepy world with hidden truths. However, after a significant twist, the village’s backstory linked to the myth is revealed through a monologue, after which the movie does not explore its mystical elements further.
The story then focuses on the love story between Basava and Bhumi, which touches on themes of perspective and truth but unfolds predictably. The potential to delve deeper into these themes seems underutilized. Exposing a mistaken perspective before the truth can add weight to their emotional journey, providing a richer portrayal.
In summary, Ooru Peru Bhairavakona presents a compelling factor and effectively weaves the journey of its characters with a hint of mythology and mystery. However, it falls short of fully realizing its potential for a deeper and more original narrative, opting instead for a straightforward approach that, while relevant, demands greater depth and creativity in its execution.
