Bheemaa is a 2008 Tamil crime action film released. It was written by Linguswamy and N.A.M. Produced by Rathnam, it stars Vikram, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Raghuvaran and Ashish Vidyarthi in lead roles. Music was composed by Harris Jayaraj, while R.D. Rajasekhar handled the cinematography and Anthony edited the film. Despite facing a two-year delay in production, “Bheem” finally premiered on January 15, 2008, to mixed reviews from critics.

Bheemaa Review: An Interesting Premise Marred by Outdated Narratives
There have been many discussions regarding the delay with ‘Bheem’. Some even thought the film might never get made. But the team behind ‘Bheem’ remained silent. Vikram once said, “Bheem is a surefire winner every time it comes out. It’s worth the wait.”
Now that the film has been released, Vikram’s words have come true.
The entire team deserves appreciation for giving us clean entertainment. Lingusamy, Vikram, Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, Raghuvaran, Kanal Kannan, Harris Jayaraj, R.D. Rajasekar, and S. Ramakrishnan has all worked hard to make it a smart and stylish action film. And Trisha adds to her charm like a gentle breeze in the middle of a raging storm.
The story is about a fight between two underworld gangs who try to defeat each other. Periyavar’s (Raghuvaran) group is big and strong, while Chinna’s (Prakash Raj) group is trying to become strong.
Shaker (Vikram) enters the scene. The strong man brings new life to Chinna’s gang. He challenges the powerful group of Periavars and puts Chinna on top. Shekhar sees Chinna as his hero and is physically and mentally strong. As Chinna once says, Shekar carries everyone on his strong shoulders like Bhima in the Mahabharata.
The new police commissioner (Ashish Vidyarthi) targets the gang, launching a three-way manhunt.
Lingusamy has written a strong script and directed it well. He manages the cast well, making the film entertaining without any gimmicks. He also bravely skips a comedy track that would have been annoying.
The characters are almost perfect. Shaker, like the legendary Bhima, is always ready to attack, no matter who is standing in front of him. Once he moves forward, he never looks back. It is powerful, direct and fearless. Lingusamy has crafted the character well with the help of dialogue writer Ramakrishnan. The relationship between Shekhar and Chinna is well portrayed.
Lingusamy also cleverly handles the gang war mixed with police action. The climax is unexpected, and the visuals of the song are stunning.
Vikram lives up to expectations with a strong and flawless performance. His effort to be physically strong is impressive, and his effort to be a character is amazing. It captures the essence of sugar both physically and mentally. His body language especially his eyes are impressive. He brings fire to the action scenes, especially the fights in the rain and the construction site during intermission.
Vikram also does a good job in some of the romantic scenes, beautifully portraying the change in his character due to love. His performance is superb.
Trisha brings her charm to the action movie, adding color with her presence. She looks beautiful in the songs, her eyes and small facial expressions add to her charm.
Prakash Raj is in the entire film and his powerful character looks like a second lead. The versatile actor adds a new dimension to the role of a gangster.
Ashish Vidyarthi does a great job in a small but important role. His portrayal of a serious police officer is impeccable. Raghuvaran impresses as Periyavar, though his performance becomes somewhat predictable. Shereen stands out in the song “Rangu Rangamma”.
Overall, “Bhima” is a well-made action film with strong performances and an engaging story.
