Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil Movie Storyline and Review
Directed by Vipin Das and written by Deepu Pradeep, Guruvayur Ambalanadayil is a fun film. It stars Basil Joseph as Vinu, who idolizes his future brother-in-law Anandan, played by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Anandan helps Vinu overcome his past love and encourages him to marry his sister Anjali (Anaswara Rajan**). Their friendship is fun as Vinu seems more excited to meet Anandan than Anjali. The scene where they meet for the first time, set to an old Malayalam song, is hilarious.
The story takes funny turns right from the start, keeping the audience’s attention. The drama gets even more intense when Anandan realizes that Vinu’s lost love is actually his wife Parvathi (Nikhila Vimal**), whom he had left after suspecting her of cheating. The big climax takes place at the Guruvayur temple and is reminiscent of classic *Priyadarshan* films.
The title might remind some viewers of Prithviraj’s debut film Nandanam, and the famous ‘Njane Kandulu’ dialogue from that film is referenced, which adds charm to the film.
Prithviraj’s role as Anandan is a departure from his recent serious role in Aadujeevitham. His acting is good but sometimes seems a bit overdone. However, his chemistry with Basil Joseph is superb. Basil has given a strong performance along with Siju Sunny as his friend. Jagadish and Kunjikrishnan Mashu have also performed well.
The characters of Anaswara Rajan and Nikhila Vimal have less development, which is a common issue for the female roles in this film. The film’s first half is entertaining, but the second half seems a bit chaotic, with some actors like Yogi Babu falling into stereotypical roles.
Despite not being as good as Das’ previous film Jai Jai Jai Jai Hey, Guruvayur Ambalanadayil is still fun and worth a watch. The comedy chemistry between Basil and Prithviraj is off-beat, offering several entertaining moments.
