Liger – Saala Crossbreed is a 2022 Indian sports action movie directed by Puri Jagannadh. It was produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects and filmed in both Hindi and Telugu. The film stars Vijay Deverakonda as “Liger”, an MMA fighter and Ananya Pandey as his girlfriend. Ramya Krishna and Ronit Roy play important roles and American boxer Mike Tyson makes a special appearance. The film is Deverakonda’s first Hindi film and Pandey’s first Telugu film.
The film was announced in 2019, and the title “Liger” was revealed in January 2021. The music was composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Sunil Kashyap, Jani, DJ Chetas, Lijo George and Vikram Montrose. Filming began in January 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shooting resumed in February 2021 and concluded in February 2022.
Liger was released in theaters on 25 August 2022. Unfortunately, it received poor reviews and did not do well at the box office. The film cost ₹90 crore (about US$11 million) to make, but grossed only ₹60.80 crore (about US$7.6 million), making it a commercial failure.

Liger Release Date OTT
Liger was released on August 25, 2022, in Hindi and Telugu, with dubbed versions in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Initially, it was supposed to come out on September 9, 2021, but this was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new release date was announced in December 2021.
The worldwide theatrical rights of the film were sold for ₹81 crore, the highest ever for a film starring Deverakonda. This shows the high expectations and excitement surrounding the film.

Liger Movie Storyline and Review
After the death of his father Singh Balram Agarwal during the MMA National Championship, Sashwath Agarwal (known as Liger, a cross between a lion and a tiger) and his mother Balamani moved to Mumbai from Karimnagar. Balamani is determined to make Liger the MMA champion. She finds a coach named Christopher to train her. While Liger is improving his game, he meets Tanya, a rich young woman, and they fall in love.
However, Tanya’s brother Sanju tells her that Liger has a crush, and embarrassed, Tanya breaks up with him. This rejection motivates Liger to focus more on his training, and he wins the national championship. He then gets an opportunity to participate in an international championship sponsored by Tanya and Sanju’s father.
Liger wins all his matches and reaches the finals. But Tanya gets kidnapped before the final match. Liger learns that his father borrowed money from a gangster and was unable to pay it back. Her father also tells Liger that Tanya broke up with him because Liger’s mother told him she was distracted. Determined to save Tanya, Liger decides to save her, even if it means missing the final match.
Liger discovers that the kidnapper is Mark Anderson, his hero and legendary MMA fighter. Anderson challenges Liger to a fight, promising to release Tanya if Liger wins. The fight is live-streamed on MMA Finals. At first, Liger struggles, but he remembers his mother’s advice and defeats Anderson. Anderson, impressed by Liger’s skills, takes a photo with Liger and Tanya and lets them go. The MMA Jury decides that the fight between Anderson and Liger will count as the final match. Liger is declared the MMA World Champion.
