Ved (meaning Madness) is a 2022 Marathi romantic drama film from India. It is directed by Ritesh Deshmukh, and also stars Genelia D’Souza, who makes her Marathi cinema debut with producer Te Jia Shankar, and veteran actor Ashok Saraf in a supporting role. The film is a remake of the 2019 Telugu film Majili.
Ved film was released in theaters on December 30, 2022, and received very positive reviews. Audiences and critics particularly praised the performances of Deshmukh and D’Souza, as well as the film’s direction, cinematography, music, and score. However, some found the film a bit slow. Genelia D’Souza won the Best Popular Actress Award at the Zee Gaurav Awards 2023 for her role. The VED movie was a big hit at the box office, grossing ₹75 crores (about US$9.4 million), making it the highest-grossing Marathi film of 2022 and even surpassing Deshmukh’s previous hit “Lai Bhari”. became for all time. 4th highest grossing film. At the 14th MKF Awards, the movie received 15 nominations and won seven awards, including Best Actor and Best Director for Riteish Deshmukh.
