Aranmanai 4 Review and Storyline
In his latest film, Aranmanai 4 director Sundar C returns to his popular horror franchise. Despite the mixed reviews of his previous movie “Koffee with Kadhal”, he relied on the Armani series to cement his position at the box office.
This new installment sticks to the successful formula of its predecessors, namely the story of “Aayaram Janmangal”. Sundar C is clearly targeting a loyal audience who don’t mind watching more. The film has a star-studded cast with Tamannaah and Raashi Khanna, which aims to appeal to a younger audience. Tamannaah is up to her drama game like never before, while Raashi Khanna is all over the place but doesn’t make much of an impact.
Aranmanai 4 film packs all the usual elements: a large mansion, smoke-blowing figures, gruesome murders, and children who can sense ghosts. Comedy meant to lighten the mood, unfortunately, Yogi Babu and his team failed to deliver the laughs.
The story this time centers on a mother who dies to save her children from an evil spirit, which represents a demon called ‘Buck’ from Assamese folklore. The creature can mimic the appearance of the people it kills, which adds an eerie twist. Although the film may explore deeper themes such as domestic violence, it mainly sticks to simple scares and straight entertainment.
Visually, inspired by the Kannada film “Vikrant Rona”, Aranmanai 4 starts with a different look. The forest scenes, bright and advertising-like, seem surreal and eerie. However, Sundar Si quickly reverts to the vivid, oversaturated visuals and quick cuts seen in earlier movies.
Overall, Aranmanai 4 does what it aims to do – it entertains with familiar scares and proven formula without pushing any boundaries. It may not impress critics looking for new ideas, but it does its job well for fans who just want to enjoy the ride.
